DIABETES – Weight Train to Reduce Risk

Recently published studies show that exercising, whether aerobic activity or weight lifting, can lower the risk of Type 2 diabetes or reduce the risk of death in men who already have the disease.

One study that included 32,000 men over an 18 year period found that those who exercised at least 2.5 hrs a week, or .5 hour a day, reduced their risk by 34% and those who participated in both weight lifting and aerobic exercise reduced their risk by 59%, compared to the sedentary men.
