Active Children Make Active Adults

Interesting article on the decline of fitness levels in today’s youth.  It states that children are running a mile about 90 seconds slower than their parents did over 30 years ago.  As stated in the article,  Dr. Grant Tomkinson of the University of South Australia’s School of Health and Sciences said “In fact, about 30% to 60% of the declines in endurance running performance can be explained by increases in fat mass.”  Children need to be motivated to engage in more vigorous exercise!

In the CHAMPIONS program, our students are engaged in 30-60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity through our exercises and games.  Start encouraging children to get out there and be more active so we can protect them from heart disease and other conditions later in life.
